Correction: Different Numbers, Same Argument

I have a correction to the previous post. (Thank you to those who brought this to my attention.) The one-third was actually in reference to the portion of recruitment that comes from re-enlistment. The rate of increase, over and above the Army's target, is actually 6%.

I'm happy to say that the same principles holds true. We will likely not hear about this in the NY Times, CNN or CBS. If what they are feeding us about the war and about the way our men and women on the field feel held any validity, then we would see a dramatic decrease in re-enlistment. That would be a story that would, undeniably and justifiably, fill the airwaves. Their refusal to return to battle would be the one argument that no one could debate.

Instead, the increase (even a 6% increase) symbolizes a military salute to the Commander in Chief in his vision and his strategy for fighting the war on terror. For as much as both sides claim to 'support the troops,' we ought to listen to the very loud and very clear message our troops are sending as they volunteer to return to the battlefield. That's an argument no one can debate.

My humblest of appologies.

I have not even said "hello".

I've read your blog, listened to you on the radio with Sean, and have meant to introduce myself.

I agree with what you seem to logically explain with great fervor.

Thank you for a blog that is not totally skewed with dis-information and animosity.

I look forward to doing the same when time permits. (Except when I get really irritated with people who seem to have lost all of their reasoning skills, that usually gets me on a tear)

Sincerely,
Maryanne

I've heard for sometime now, that re-enlistment is up...mostly from alternative news sources, like talk radio and polibloggers. This at the same time that I constantly hear old media bloviate on and on about how the army not meeting it's recruitment goals, about how soldiers are only soldiers because they come from economically depressed families and just want to be put through school...then of course, there are the liberals who try to ban military recruiters from college campuses- our "best and brightest". I guess they want to push-pedal and reinforce the notion that only high school drop-outs and those with a high school education are the ones who enlist. And why are some of them so afraid of allowing military recruiters onto campus, anyway? I thought liberals liked diversity of thought and freedom of expression?

Oh, by the way: Hoo-rah!!! A fellow conservative in a blue state. I live in Santa Monica. Brings a warm, glowy smile to my face every time I drive down the 10 or 405 and see those glaring Kerry/Edwards bumperstickers. Think I'll write in my blog about that, sometime.

A caller on the Laura Ingraham show yesterday was complaining that armed services recruiters were allowed on college campuses. He too, is a California,(San Francisco) and actually admitted to being a socialist. After he realized his argument was'nt scoring any points, he then began to complain that the armed services recruiters refused to recruit the gay students. I also try to stay respectful to Liberals and will never delete any of their comments from my blog. As I have stated often, it is a free country, you have the right to state your opinion. You also have the right to be wrong. I don't delete rude and insulting comments but I don't respond to them.
